Grab three friends and join us for the Notorious Beach Open, a one-day beach volleyball tournament bringing together the Notorious Run Club community for an afternoon of competition, music, great people, and summer vibes.

Whether you're diving for every ball or just here for the laughs, this tournament is all about bringing our community together for an unforgettable day on the sand.

Start the Day With a Run 🏃

Before we hit the court, kick off the day with our Notorious Run Club Social Run.

Everyone is welcome, whether you're playing in the tournament or simply coming out to meet the community. We'll head out for a relaxed social run before grabbing a coffee and making our way to the beach for volleyball.

It's the perfect way to start the long weekend!

Expect good rallies, friendly competition, and plenty of moments you'll be talking about long after the final point.

Tournament Format

Pool Play

Every registered team is guaranteed two pool play matches, giving everyone a chance to settle in before playoffs begin.

Pool Play Games

• First to 11 points
• Rally scoring
• Winners continue serving
• Approximately 15–20 minute rounds
• The top 12 teams with the most points after Pool Play (two games) move on to the Round of 16.

Seeding

After pool play, every team will be ranked based on their Win/Loss record.

Championship Bracket

The tournament then shifts into single elimination.

Top 12 teams automatically advance to the Round of 16, while Seeds 13–20 compete in a play-in redemption round for the remaining four spots.

From there, it's win or go home: (or stick around cause it's gonna be a gong show)

🏐 Round of 16 - play to 15 points (8 games)

🏐 Quarterfinals - play to 15 points (4 games)

🏐 Semifinals - play to 15 points (2 games)

🏆 Championship Match - play to 21 points

Every point matters. One team will leave as the Notorious Beach Open Champions.

Event Schedule

9:00 AM — Social Run from Fernwood Coffee (1105 Caledonia Ave)

Tournament Check-In — 10:50AM

Pool Play Round — Approximately 1.5 hours

Redemption Play-In Round — Approximately 30 minutes

Quarterfinals & Semifinals - Approximately 1 hour

Championship Bracket — Approximately 30 minutes

Awards & Prizes — Immediately following the championship match.

Team Information

• 20 Team Maximum
• 4 Players Per Team on the court with a max of 6 players (2 spares)
• $65 entry covers the cost of the entire team! $16.25/4 players or $10.83/6 players
• Co-ed teams encouraged
• Minimum of 2 guaranteed matches
• First-come, first-served registration

Once all 20 team spots are filled, registration closes.
